MonkeyPaw Games announced today PSone import, Hyper Crazy Climber, will now be available later in Q1 2014 for the PlayStation Network.

Originally planned as the fourth title in the Retro Rush event, some last minute legal hurdles caused an unfortunate delay. The Retro Rush will resume as planned with Wolf Fang on February 11, 2014.

Hyper Crazy Climber is an arcade style game where players must avoid obstacles and scale a tower with deliberately difficult, yet fair, controls. It will be available through the PlayStation Network for PS3, PSP and PS Vita for $5.99.

Hyper Crazy Climber was a 1996 PS1 Action Game, released by Nihon Bussan in Japan. Based off the 1980 arcade hit Crazy Climber, it featured the same sort of Crazy Climbing action as near as buttons could mimic. Instead of just climbing the same 4 buildings over and over and over though, Hyper Crazy Climber featured a variety of environments like mountains, beanstalks and classic scaffolding. And now, thanks to the fine folks at MonkeyPaw, it’s available for you to add your collection to scratch your crazy climbing itch!

“We never want to hold back a game release, but in this case it was a necessary precaution,” said Ryan Olsen, PR Manager for MonkeyPaw Games. “We are working as fast as we can to clear up the last outstanding issues and bring this game to our fans.”
