Our overall verdict "silver"

When those magaicans over at Voo Foo released Mantis Burn Racing last year it certainly turned some heads. This slick top down racer belted out a solid and highly enjoyable racing experience. Races were fast, tight and addictive. Now it’s time to get even with your opposition in a different way in the lastest DLC, Battle Cars. As the title suggests Mantis Burn Racing gets even dirtier with a string of new heavily armed vehicles that can unleash rapid gun fire and launch mines. No longer is it just about being the fastest to the finishing line, now it’s more about if you’ll even get there.

While Battle Cars does not change the core game, the new DLC does propel Mantis Burn Racing into a different league. A clever peice of DLC and a great move by Voo Foo. Racers are now even more challenging and fun. Machine guns come with a cooling down period and you’re limited to a handful of mines per lap. You’ll find yourself exposed pretty quickly if you don’t think before you pull the trigger. Battle Cars definitely makes for a far more tactical race than before.

Repeatly taking down your fellow contenders as you close in on them from behind is super cool. It certainly spices up the race. A game changer? Definitely. Not only do you get the new vehicles, you also get to race and shoot your way through a stand alone Battle career campaign featuring 26 new events and 3 brand new battle modes. Another positive is the trophy count. Battle Cars comes with 1 gold, 2 sliver and 3 bronze trophies and only costs £1.99/€2.49/$2.49. BOOM!
