Rock Soldier

Grab hold of that machine gun, toss those grenades by the barrel load and let them have it. Rock Gunar has a huge battle ahead of him as swarms of nasty aliens, disfigured creatures and general vermin rampage towards this fearless cigar chomping mercenary. It’s your job to single-handedly take out everything that moves as quickly as possible before it’s your brains that are scattered against the wall. If you’re interested in a pixel shooter survival challenge, then Rock Gunar awaits you.

Let Them Come is an action packed indie title that boasts an impressive punch. From the off things heat up pretty quickly. You’re plonked aboard a ship where you find yourself taking cover behind a trusty machine gun as an onslaught of aliens approach. Taking down waves of lunatics that are running, jumping and climbing leads to a frantic time. Dealing with the ones that come running at you is tricky enough, let alone the critters that run up the ceilings and leap at you. It’s an endlesss wave of horrors that ends with a big boss. Defeat this brute then the action continues as the next level pops open. Bosses take a good pummelling before they fall, so learning their patterns helps, but also slinging a handful of cluster grenades works just as well too.

As you progress credits are awarded, and it’s what you spend your winnings on that makes Let Them Come an addictive shooter. There’s a heap of extra fire power on offer that really mixes up the fun, such as Explosive Ammo, Shock Ammo and even more bizarrely stuff like Dark Matter and a Black Hole can all be loaded into your slots from the inventory. Some of these weapons are game changers but but warned, they come at a cost and furthermore have limited use.

One thing that will help is if you have nifty fingers. The left trigger fires the machine gun, the right trigger lets loose a chosen upgrade and square can release an extra blast of something you’ve purchased. Also not forgetting that a quick snap on the circle button brings your razor sharp hunting knife into play. Frantic? Hell yeah!

Conclusion

Let Them Come is a surprisingly great slug fest of non-stop built action. It’s a budget buster that is executed with style and whilst it may be low on content, it’s highly recommended for short blasts of frantic fun. Now go chomp on that.
