The most anticipated PS Vita game of the year is here! Ever since the launch of the PS Vita there has been talk of Killzone’s Vita contribution, and while things have been kept very much under wraps, major details have finally been released about Killzone: Mercenary. It hits stores on September 17th in North America and September 18th in Europe, and you can check out the mind blowing trailer below!

KIllzone: Mercenary starts just after the ending of the original Killzone, and revisits many of the events from the Killzone trilogy. You will play as a mercenary named Arran Danner who has no qualms about taking on paid contracts from the ISA as well as the Helghast. When a seemingly simple mission to evacuate the Vektan ambassador goes wrong, Danner realises that the outcome of the war could ultimately depend on the fate of the Ambassador’s young son. With both sides going to increasingly desperate lengths to get hold of the boy, Danner wonders whether the price of victory is worth the paycheck.

The single player consists of nine single player missions (all lasting an hour on average), and really looks like it’s going to deliver a full PS3 type Killzone experience on a handheld. Not to mention a fully fledged multiplayer mode with six maps, where you can have up to 8 players in 3 different game types, including fan favourite Warzone mode. The better you perform in Killzone: Mercenary, the better you will be rewarded. Perform well and you will get a bigger payout, resulting in more wages to buy gear and weapons.

You’ll be able to use the touchscreen for actions like brutal melee (you can start with triangle and swipe to kill) and use the tilt for more accurate sniper aiming. Thankfully you won’t have to use the rear touch pad for awkward running, just use the left stick and tap circle to run. You also have the option of mercy kills. If you wound an enemy, you can leave them to bleed out or rush it for a mercy kill. You’ll be rewarded more for these.

That’s what we have so far. Keep checking back for more info as we get it over the next few weeks but hopefully that will be enough to get you excited..September can’t come soon enough!
