It’s zombie time! Those shuffling, moaning dead-folk star centre stage in Beatshapers latest PlayStation twin-stick shooter #KILLALLZOMBIES.
#KILLALLZOMBIES is set in a cordoned-off section of town, an area where only the criminally insane would venture into. Unfortunately for you, you’re plonked right in the middle of this mayhem with no way out and hordes of the walking dead, pissed and hungry, shambling in from all sides. Your job is simple; stay alive for as long as possible. Shoot, lure them into traps, or pray for forgiveness, either way they’re going to get you. Sound simple? Think again.
Visually this playing area shows off a futuristic surface made up of hexagonal shapes. These shapes have a mind of their own, some spontaneously rising from the ashes and building temporary walls to save you from imminent death, and others just becoming a hindrance and blocking you in. Other surprises include rotating roundabouts laden with spikes that can slice and splice whole gangs of walkers in an instant. And it’s not just ground level where these surprises happen. Raining down from the heavens are vehicles, ambulances and even the odd flying saucer. These explodable mounds of steel come in handy to wipe out your opposition, but beware they can also land on your head if you’re in the wrong place at the wrong time. Also watch out for that 1000 ton weight descending from the skies. Splat, you’re dead again!
#KILLALLZOMBIES is horribly addictive but also horribly hard. This one will defiantly send the trophy hunters running in all directions. To help you stay alive and survive, the game offers random perks, and while some might not be of much benefit, others are game changers. It’s here where #KILLALLZOMBIES becomes great. In the same vein as Crimsonland, Beatshapers have turned this genre on its head. It’s the vast array of perks you can pick up and select that keep you coming back. The range is impressive and includes invincibility, extra fire power and increased speed, and there is even a perk to make zombies short sighted. Melee combat is offered, but stay clear as this weak offensive attack is pretty useless when you’re surrounded by fifty ravenous zombies.
For those who have developed the art of zombie slaying, leaderboards proudly display your hard work. Your length of stay really depends on the hand you’re dealt, but once you’re toast it’s very difficult not to come back. It’s a survival zombie twin-stick shooter and what it does, it does well.
If you’re into Twitch or Ustream then your fans can get involved and add to the on screen chaos. Viewers select different challenges to toss your way. It’s a great extra feature if you’re big on online play. Also coming soon we are promised extra content in Defend The Flag and Co-op Ladder modes. So it’s even more win, win and die.
With its randomized environments, Beatshapers deliver a constant fresh flow of rotting flesh to take a shot at. #KILLALLZOMBIES — it does exactly what it says in the title.
